Joy List #1

It's always nice meeting up with friends, be it in a group setting with our partners or just a simple girly meet up of two. This week, I met up with the gang for dinner and also with Magdalyn. We had dinner at Dean & Deluca and chatted the evening away. I can't believe six years ago, I was a blubbering fool crying to her after a break-up and she tried her best to comfort me over the phone. Look where we are now - both engaged, happily in love and ready for the next chapter in life. :) I feel happy for us!

I love attending events. We attended Triumph's 40th anniversary event held at Alkaff Mansion and it was such a treat. Canapes were served prior to the show (all I had were breadsticks since there was nothing that I could eat) and caught up with people there before we took our seats. The show kicked off with a performance by an opera singer which was followed by a short dance sequence by ballerinas, and then they made way for the models sashaying down the runway. I guess this is our equivalent of Victoria's Secret fashion show over here, but on a much smaller scale. :)

I turned 4 (in Christ) this week! I almost forgot but Kev remembered. Kev may have gotten me a present to celebrate the best decision I've made in my life, but he's the best present I've received ever since I made the decision to accept Christ. :)

We also caught Drum Tao on Friday night and it was exhilarating to watch! I had thought it was be boring as I was under the impression that it was only going to be drums, drums and more drums the entire night, so I thought I would bail during intermission But I was pleasantly surprised. The troupe performed with such exuberance and vigour (their arms are all so toned/muscular!) and showed precision in their drumming. Unlike other instruments, drums do not have any melody so it was pretty cool how they were able to convey emotions with their drumsticks. Different drums were used to create complex rhythms and instruments like the flute and harp were incorporated to provide a delicate touch to the beat. There were sections here and there where they required audience participation and that was quite entertaining. They moved around the stage with such synchronicity in their flowing robes and they danced as an extension to the music they were making. It was quite enthralling... I'm glad I sat through it all :)

Being able to eat is such a blessed enjoyment, especially so after I've fallen ill earlier in the year and losing my appetite totally. So Kev and I had checked out Tiong Bahru Bakery and Pizzeria Mozz where our tasetbuds were tantalised and tummies happily filled :)

I love public holidays, where I'm free to spend time with my favourite person having brunch and checking out exhibits :) It's been a fab day and I'm ready for the work week.

It's been a while..

since I last entered something for my joy journal.

In case you didn't know, it's something I do... to keep track of my blessings and be thankful for everything that's happened in my life thus far, but I usually do it on a daily basis.

So here it goes:

- Thank you Lord for the pair of tickets to Morning Glory screening next Friday! You know I could use a good laugh. :)
- I'm immensely thankful for the people I've gotten to know during my freelancing stint with CLEO. I will miss them and I really hope we will all stay in touch! :)
- Thank God for the smooth-sailing CLEO Bachelors event, well, kinda. though I didn't quite enjoy running back and forth in heels to get invites, it was still good.
- I'm thankful for my friend April, bringing me into Filter. It was featured in 8Days as some members-only club and never in a million years would I think that I would be able to get in there but thank God she got me in! ♥ the music and everything. A lot of clinking of glasses but it's really cold in there (my thighs are aching from all the shivering). That aside, I really liked the place and it's a shame I didn't stay long enough to catch the sight of Eucardo Saverin.. maybe next time. But anyways, happy birthday to you if you ever see this!
- Can't express just how blessed I am, but within 3 minutes that I stumbled out of the club, I got into a cab! Bypassing all those people who were waiting in the queue at the hotel.. Take that! Hhahahaa!

Okok, I better get a good shower and then maybe have an early night...

It's been a while since I did this

#3 My sister thought of me and asked if I wanted Ramly burger
#4 Catching Monsters tomorrow!

I'm thankful for the angels God planted along the way to and fro Asia Conference yesterday evening :) Ariel and I bumped into her NUS friend at the MRT station and we managed to hitch a ride there instead of squeezing with the peak hour crowd on the train, and her cell group leader dropped me off at a convenient location to hail a cab. And guess what, although the midnight surcharge should have kicked in, the cabbie only charged me a mere $6.90! =D

And... I came home, checked my emails and there it was: an offer letter from University of Queensland! It's gonna be a 3-year course, I wonder why it doesn't seem to have any exemptions made.. hmmm... Hahaha, waiting for QUT's offer to arrive in my inbox now... =)

Feeling very ♥ed because my sister made me peanut butter toast for breakfast in the morning!

I'm looking on the bright side of things... with 4 teeth gone, I'm sure weight will be lost in the process... And I get to bum around at home for at least 6 days! =D This is mighty awesomeeeee

Been incredibly blessed! =)

I've received ticket to the Korean Pop Night (which I gave up in the end for the premiere screening) and invite to the premiere screening of Madagascar 2! =D I must say I went into the cinema without any high hopes for the movie because 1) sequels are usually not as good as the first movie and 2) I didn't even like the first movie but, this is surprisingly alot better (and funnier!) than I've expected! And we found a bucket of popcorn and beverage waiting for us in our seat... =D

And... Although I didn't get Mr Soo for my driving lesson, I got an instructor who took me before! (the female instructor was in 117, again!! hahaha) Another fruitful and enjoyable lesson... We covered test routes 1, 3, 6 and 9, tried the s-course for the first time and I now know the best timing to book for my practical test =D I can't wait for the next lesson.. *rubs hands in glee*

The company's giving us 2 extra days off during the Christmas season! =D The office is closed on Boxing Day (26 Dec) and we can take the other day off anytime from Dec 1 - Jan 1... this is just awesomeee.

Joy Journal

1) I'm thankful for the mid-week public holiday! I had the time to go for Yogasana in the morning, take a nice nap in the afternoon, meet Joshua for dinner and even play with my Blythe dolls that I've neglected in the past months due to my busy life now.

2) I had a great driving lesson last Tuesday. As usual, I drove at night and it is beginning to feel damn natural driving. :) I had a good instructor and we chatted about my grouping and he told me that I'm assigned to the group of instructors with the highest passing rates.. It turns out that they teach students with revoked licences.. so yah.. ahhaha! It rained during my session too... So I got to experience how it's like to drive in the rain... hehehe Ooh, I drove myself home too! =D

3) I've found this bracelet (made of buttons) that I made so long ago but never gotten round to completing it. I got my mum to help burn the ends so it would be sturdier. It looked really good and I surprised myself with what I'm capable of achieving... Haha!

4) I'm glad that my secondary school classmates organised a meet-up earlier on! It's nice to see them after the last meet-up... :) We went to the rooftop garden, shoot pearls at the kois (oops!) =X, and snapped pictures =D And I realised... we are still pretty much kids at heart haha!

5) My skin is in better shape now! I took the risk to use the Neutrogena advanced solutions pore refining facial peel despite my skin was feeling a tad raw (boy, it stung!) and then topped up with TheFaceShop's collagen sheet mask. My skin looked and felt so much better, maybe taking collagen pills on a nightly basis and sleeping at least 6-7 hours helped too. :)

6) I'm surprised that I'm able to sleep without music at night. Silence is deafening, but I've been sleeping without the radio turned on for almost 1 week now. There's something wrong with the hi-fi and the static really bothered me, so I had to sleep without my music...

7) My mum got me Ugly Betty Season 2! =D I can have my own series marathon on Saturday!

Joy Journal

This week I'm thankful...

- for the rain; because it gives me a jolly good reason to wear my rainboots and jump into puddles. I can deal with the cold weather much better than the stifling heat.
- for the trip to Cold Rock! Make that trips instead since I had another cup last night haha. I better hit the gym more often this week if not my mode of getting around would be rolling, not walking.
- for Joshua for bringing me down to wala's to check out the unxpected. :) I was blown away. I love the atmosphere, I love how the lead singer exchanged easy banter with the crowd. I think the lead really has stage presence, I couldn't take my eyes off her hahaha!
- for passing my FTT and getting my PDL done in the same day *beams*
- for having my instructor seek my opinion on what to do for StretchFit class, and of course I requested for more stretching poses for the legs and stomach! =D
- that my Thai class is coming to an end, and we're heading to Suan Thai restaurant for our last lesson! =D But I'd still continue my Thai classes for stage 1 and 2... Seeing my classmates' enthusiasm (gosh, she's learning how to write and read Thai script!) really inspires me. :)

Sunday morning

I just had pancakes and soy milk for breakfast, and I'm one satisfied girl :)

Life has been busy, but I must take time to count my blessings so here's my Joy Journal for the week:

- I passed my BTT! =D

- I'm thankful that Kok notified me the moment there was an earlier date available for FTT (coming thursday) because if not I gotta wait till October to take my test. =D You're such an awesome friend! *I think you're reading my blog hahaha!* BTW, I was rummaging through my box of letters and I found a note/statement you wrote and it cracked me up. I'm gonna post it up and we can both LAUGH at it hahaha!

- I'm thankful for the awesome supper at Fong Seng with the MTV gang on Tuesday. So fun! =D Adrian picked me up after my pilates class, then we went over to Bugis to wait for Ade to finish her workout, and then finally we went to pick Ariel up before making our way down to the nasi lemak place near NUS. We are making plans for a chalet sometime soon like from Thursday - Sunday kind, and Adrian can chauffeur us to and fro work, hahaha! Feels like the 1T01 chalet the last time we had... feels like.. family :)

- I'm heartened that people can see improvement in my work. :) Tracy told me during my performance review that my attitude and the quality of my work has improved. I'm alot happier now as compared to the past because you know, women are like spaghetti. It's like a Venn Diagram, everything in her life touches or overlaps everything else, so go figure.

- Met Joshua for Subway on Wednesday and after that we went jalan-jalan after we popped by FEP to pick up the pair of jeans which he sent for alteration. I found my Organic Surge toner! okay lah, credits goes to him since he opened his mouth and asked the sales assistant where is the range of product placed. I know you're gonna read this, so thanks! =D Even more awesome, the cashier packed a sample of the brand's conditioner together with my toner... so yay!

- I'm totally loving CardioLatino lessons! :) It's my second lesson so far and it's been really fun. I'm thinking of taking up latin dance classes but that would have to wait till the location of our office is confirmed. Don't wanna make mad rushes down to the school yo.

- Met Ashley on Friday after work together with Ariel. =D Dinner was good and maybe a lil too much and we went back to office for a game of foosball before heading out to wander in town. None of us got anything in the end hahaha, so we sat down at ToastBox and did a bit of catching up before we headed home :)

That's all for now, I need to go and revise my Thai stuff since I've missed out class last week due to the painting of my room =X

I know I haven't been blogging much these days, but I'm awfully busy. I'm taking over Nick Japan's programming prematurely, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm able to do a good job for the coming 3 months odd... Come on Kelly, you can do it!

Joy Journal:
- I'm thankful that I only missed out on 15 minutes of Final Theory 1.01, and 1.02 was so much easier to understand than 1.01!

- I managed to book an earlier test date for BTT: 25th August instead of 16th September. Thank you my guardian angels :)

- I've finally finished reading 'The Elephant Vanishes' by Haruki Murakami. It's a collection of short stories and I personally think that Norwegian Wood was a whole lot better. I hope I won't be disappointed with the Wind-up Bird Chronicle. Speaking of books, I have Sex & The City novel and New Moon (read several chapters into the book) lying around, waiting for me to get started on reading!

- I'm glad that I had time to chat to Ashaley online today, to find out more about her life these days. :)

- I'm thankful for a good yoga session yesterday, it was tiring and I'm glad I attempted a headstand under the supervision of the instructor haha... :) I love running... I'm gonna run again tomorrow during lunch time!

- I'm thankful for receiving the much-awaited call and notification! :)

I think I've spent too much time moping around, trying to find an answer to questions that will never have answers that I couldn't see just how incredibly blessed I am still. I gotta get back into the habit of writing my joy journal on a daily basis. *I'll update the KL part of the trip soon, I promise!*

So here it goes:

- I'm thankful for the KL trip with Ariel, Adrian, Ade and Joyce :) It was a really good trip where I got to know them better, have pillow-talks where ever we went and a good time just hanging out together. I'm thankful Erique brought us around on a lil drive around KL before settling at Luna Bar for our drinks.

- I'm thankful for having a good friend like Velda, who offers to lend a listening ear when I need it :)

- I'm thankful for a good evening with my clique last night. :) Mummy 3, High School Musical on ice, and late night dinner at Fish & Co. - Just awesome!

- I'm thankful that my guardian angels sent people to help me out with my learning of the Thai language. This is the first time since I started learning Thai that I'm actually having fun. Thank you for giving me a partner in class to help me and someone to practise Thai with at the Thai stall in the foodcourt! :)

- I'm glad I passed my basic theory evaluation this afternoon. :) Now, BTT here I come! Till then, it's just final theory lessons and practice I can entertain myself with...

- I'm thankful that I had some time to spend with you, to do a bit of cloud-watching.. :)

Joy Journal:

- Caught Sex & The City with Magmag on Tuesday and I really enjoyed it! :) I didn't follow the drama serial, but it's no biggie. I love the clothes, the heels and the storyline! I wanna get a fierce belt and pair it with a floral frock :)

- Receiving stuff from sprees in the mail!

- Getting a good Blythe deal. =D I'm getting a Prima Dolly Ginger and Love Mission and clothes for like what, $413.90. Any Blythe lovers would know it's a good deal... =D Gotta thank my sister for looking out for me!

- Ie Ting lent me his company's V9 so I can see if I'll like using a Motorola phone because I'm gonna get the Motorola V8 Luxury Edition phone when mummy renews somebody's contract. *This is just awesome!* So far, I like it :)

- I love my sisters, no matter how irrinoying they can get :)

I should have listened to my gut instincts when it kicked in. I was at Watsons earlier on after StretchFit and a thought just crept into my head, telling me to get a box of make-up remover tissues (to clean sunblock off my face). I ignored it, and bought other stuff instead. When I got home, I realised my box of make-up remover cleansing tissues was depleted, and the back-up pack in my gym bag had already dried up as the flap that sealed the opening had fallen apart. =( I guess in a way, my sub-conscious mind is all-knowing...

I don't know but ever since I started meditating before I sleep, I feel calmer and more focused, that I can take on anything Life throws at me. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel more connected to my guardian angels than before as well. :)

Gratitude is a good attitude to have, so start a habit of recording all your daily blessings people!

Joy Journal:
- free movie tickets to What happens in Vegas screening next Wed (Ariel's taking me with her! *teehee*)
- rainy morning on Tuesday so I can jump into puddles with my awesome rainboots =D
- 3 of the SkinFood items had been sold, yay!

Oh my my my...

Joy Journal:
- Lunchtime workout was great, managed to clock 4.5km in 38 minutes. Feeling good because it's been ages since I last ran since most of the time I'm on the cross-trainer :) I'm gonna better my 5km timing for this year's Shape Run! Thank God Joyce's interested in joining the run for this year again =D
- Love the healthy glow on my face after my workout and how my legs look so toned and shapely
- I'm thankful that I'm able to knock off on time on most days :)
- I've found a worthy foosball opponent! I won yesterday but I got trashed today... Must. Play. Harder!!!
- Pleasant surprise on a busy workday... :)
- Mummy prepared yummy bento for dinner, peppered generously with TLC!

Life's pretty good I guess...
:)

Quick vote people! Which is better?

Joy Journal

I think my guardian angels know that I've been feeling a little gloomy (though I don't show it outwards) and guess what? I received a pair of tickets to Harold and Kumar 2 Escape from Guantanamo Bay, all thanks to Jules. This is just awesome! I hope it's as good as the first one :)

It's been quite a while since I last counted my blessings and I really should make a point to do it regularly.

I'm thankful for
- A nice window-shopping session after work with ariel and ade
- A great lunch this afternoon with my colleagues
- free movie tickets!

When you think Colbie C, I hope you think of me

mercredi, février 13, 2008

Ahh! :) This morning we had a liondance troupe coming to our office to perform! It's been a long time since I last saw such performances. Later we are treated to buffet lunch at our breakout lounge. With so many things happening, I think I'm still in a holiday mood this week haha! First reunion dinner on Monday, lion dance + buffet lunch on Wednesday, Valentine's Day tomorrow and payday on friday! I wonder where we are going to eat on friday for our payday ritual lunch... =P

Joy Journal:
- Big angbao from big boss! --> This goes to my next pair of Irregular Choice shoes =D

Happy Birthday dumbdumb!

Today's my sister's 18th birthday! :)
I actually wanted to surprise her with the Ben & Jerry's lipbalm I got from her last night, but she was out washing cars with her boyfriend. *rawr* So I did it this morning instead. I'm an early riser, so I went into the room to disturb her, asking if she wants ice-cream for breakfast, what flavour she likes, and then finally presenting to her the lipbalm! She broke out in a wide smile =D

Joy Journal:
- Receiving the items from my Bath & BodyWorks spree *awesomeness*
- Getting work done without a hitch
