So I received two complimentary passes to Ekka 2010 from Study Brisbane! For the uninitiated, the Ekka is Queensland's largest annual event. Running over 10 days, it attracts close to over half a million visitors every August. Tons of events and attractions happen at the RNA Showgrounds daily, including fireworks, concerts, displays, fashion parades, prize-winning animals, craft, live music and of course, food.

I met bestie and we took the bus that was heading directly to the exhibition.

Took a picture with the fairies!
We checked out the Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion that housed a huge variety of food and drink providers, visitors are spoilt for choice in this food haven.

This strawberry sundae is a must-try at the Ekka. For some unknown reason, I missed out on that last year so I quickly joined the queue to get myself one!

Bestie and I with our strawberry sundaes :)

A strawberry, some whipped cream and strawberry-flavoured ice-cream... looks pretty ordinary. That is, until you take a big bite...

Oh my goodness, there's strawberries inside too! No wonder it's a must-try

Then we saw some equestrian event taking place...

People queuing up to get into the Channel 9 broadcast centre.
Popped into another pavilion area...

Adults watching a kid driving the tractor simulator, cute!

Bestie playing a game where the objective is to chase sheep back into the pen.

Kids playing with plastic animals. Can you spot my bestie?

Gumboots decorated!

We checked out quilts next...

We then checked out the showbags pavilion next! This is one of the best parts of Ekka for me =D This year I just got a magazine showbag from CLEO.

And then some plushies from Toy Story 3 hahha. Moving on!

The fairgound, game stalls and rides

I remember doing this last year.

Then we stopped by the tentage area to watch a demonstration...

Blacksmiths at work

How can we miss out the Sunny Queen Little Miracles Newborn Corner?

The girl is holding the lamb, which was only three days old!

A newborn lamb on the ground. If I'm not wrong, they actually put all pregnant ewes into this glass enclosure so people can watch them go into labour!

Petting area where people can buy food to feed the animals. :)

Baby chicks!

People sitting in a row, holding little chicks in their hands.

Awww, so cute!

There was a naughty boy going into the resting areas of the animals and harassing them, quite a funny sight hahah
We also saw cats in a separate area.

Then we saw birds!

Aviary

Candy floss coloured hens!

So weird, but so cute and fluffy at the same time!

I ♥ carousels

Ferris wheel... not so much.

Wheee!

This next bit is amazing, the agriculture show or something. These exhibits are made of produce! Can't imagine how time consuming it must be.

Though some exhibits were similar to what I've experienced before, I saw more stuff than I did last year... so it was a great day spent :)
