Backdated entry: Broncos vs. Titans

Venue: Suncorp Stadium
Time: 7:30pm

One of the things I wanted to do during my time here in Australia: Watch a live rugby match. My sister and I met fellow ambassador Nitin and his friend in the city and we caught the free shuttle service there.

I've watched Standard Chartered Rugby 7s many years ago, but that was nothing compared to the Broncos vs Titans match. I felt like a little child, so awestruck by the sights as I walked into the stadium. The stadium's soo big, the lights so bright and it was everything I imagined and more. I was thinking that a pint of beer and some chips would be the perfect footy match grub, but bummer I didn't have an 18+ card and I already had a burger and fries earlier on so I didn't get it in the end. We found our seats and to our pleasant surprise, it was just 24 rows from the field and we're really close to the action! As we took our seats, the stadium was relatively empty since we were almost 30 - 45 minutes early.

One of the highlights of a rugby match is the 'on-the-side' action: dancing cheerleaders, mascots engaging/entertaining the crowd, etc.

This is sooo cool. Everytime Broncos score a try, the horse will come galloping around the field! Not only that, there was mini fireworks happening on the side of the field =D

I must say the atmosphere was really electrifying. The whole stadium erupted with cheers whenever Broncos scored and I can't help but be infected by their energy and high spirits. Now I know how seriously Aussies take their rugby hahaha. Before I know it, I was shouting and cheering and enjoying myself thoroughly in the process. =D

As the game was going on, I can't help but get distracted by the mascots interacting with the audience on the side. The mascot for Broncos went over to the Titans fans and poked fun at them and it was really fun to watch =P The night ended with Broncos winning 28 to Titans 6. Getting home was a bit of a nightmare but thankfully we got home by 10ish. :) The game was such an eye-opener experience and I'm glad that now I've checked it off my list. :) Thanks Study Brisbane!
