Enjoying the journey

I like how each week's sermon is a reminder for me to reflect/meditate on the Word and then put it into action. Last week, it was all about enjoying the journey.

More often than not, we are living, planning for 'a day out there' in the future instead of enjoying this very moment. Oh, I will start -whatever- when I -whatever-... Sometimes I'm guilty of that myself. I find myself sometimes mentally working out my assignments in my head when I'm out with my friends, instead of just enjoying the moment and their company. It's as if I'm there physically but not mentally, and I'm not living in the moment as much as I should.

What I got out of the whole sermon was this: We've got only one life, live it well. Make sure to make the most of each day and milk each moment/ opportunity dry. Live today the best that you can, so you can get to the place you want to be. It's important to plan, but it's also important to live each day with purpose in order to get to where you want to be. Don't live 'for the day out there', start living it now. I used to think that maybe I'm packing too many things to be done in a day but I never realised that it's the way to live my life to its fullest, but now I know better.

I think it's also vital that we have the attitude of gratitude and never forget how to be appreciative. It's always so much easier to swing to the negative side (ranting and raving about everything) that makes it so important to never forget to be thankful for all the good things in life. Being able to be appreciative makes it easier for us to be a blessing to others, and it's an incredibly humbling and... a nice feeling to have in the pits of your stomach, knowing that what you've done has made someone's day better :)

Sometimes in the face of difficulties, we just need to persevere. Keep pushing through, keep believing in God and remember: no matter how cold or bitter the winter was, it has to make way for spring.

This is why each time I walk out from church, I feel revitalised and very much loved by Him. :)

In all other news, life's been good. Got back three of my assignments and I've gotten 2 Distinctions (Drawing for Fashion, Ragtrade) and 1 Credit (Graphic Investigation)! Seems like dropping everything, kicking back and relaxing when I'm stressed out works well for me :) I'm gonna go for the Story Bridge climb tomorrow afternoon! It's something that I've wanted to try but I've never gotten round to doing it. Thank God for the perks of being a Brisbane International Student Ambassador! :)
