HaiNan Island Trip [Part II]

Now, for the second part. Loadsa pictures again! =D
The next day (9th March):

Morning call was at 6:30am, but I woke up at 6am so we'll have enough time to freshen up, and pack the toiletries into the luggage. Breakfast was... blah. Watery porridge + hard boiled eggs, not exactly very appetising. =X

Both Kate and Marie joins us for breakfast =D

After breakfast, waiting at the lounge area for everyone to gather. I'm making notes that will aid me in blogging about the trip because I have lousy memory.

Some sights along the way...

First destination for the day: Song Qingling's Ancestral Home.
It's located in Wenchang, where all Song ancestors resided. There were several exhibition rooms that hold rich documents that recorded this legendary female. Who's she? She's a well-known fighter of patriotism, democratism and internationalism, and a well-known pioneer for world peace. She's also one of the founders of People's Republic of China as well as a great woman of the twentieth century.

Hur. We love taking pictures with statues.

I tell you, my sister Kelila is damn awesome. When you take pictures with a statue, you would want the statue in the picture right? Look at this, WHAT IS THIS?!!?! *faints*

heehee, we're in matching Spongebob teeshirts today!

Now now, we're headed for the exhibition rooms.

The Song sisters (pardon the reflections!).

An imitation of the violin belonging to Song Zi-wen but kept by Song Qingling.

A view of the compound

This is Song Qingling, people. A better picture as compared to just now Kelila. =P

After touring the place, we headed to DongJiao Coconut Groves. It's a... place with loadsa coconut trees. I can't believe they brought us there (for 10-15 mins) to look at ... TREES?!?

Me, Kelda, Kelilda, Adeline and Keller

My uncle made me take this picture.

Old ladies selling coconuts :)

Next, we're gonna check out our relatives' place! We took a bus ferry over to get to the other side.

Taking spastic pictures! =D

Kate Rose on the bus :)

Very fine sand!

Here we are on the vehicle ferry =) You can actually smell fuel burning!

We're leaving now!

Fishing boats at sea

Finally!

After that, it was quite a ride into the village (read: bumpy). We had to walk a distance to get to their place. Quite a change of scene. A lot of villagers were looking at us as we came in. As we reached our relative's place, firecrackers were set off to welcome us. =D

This will be their new house, but construction was halted as they didn't have enough money to continue building. The lack of money was due to the poor crop sales of winter melons. =(

The last time I heard firecrackers going off was in Chinatown. Fake, but still scared the hell outta me as I walked to my facial place. ^%$^%&! TMD. But I heard them the last time when I went to my paternal relatives' place in China too.

Then we took a very long walk to the ancestral graves.

Winter melons!

There were several buffaloes around the place, and we even saw one pooping in action!!

After seeing the graves, we went back to the house. We ate some of their homemade snacks and I like the peanut snacks!

Here's a group picture of us.

Heee! Taking a picture on my FishEye2 with my lil cousins!

After that, we headed off for lunch. We're running late!

Kate Rose is here at the restaurant!

I don't think Marie likes the food...

Me and Kelila

At every meal, we're served with a bottle of soft drink and alcohol.

Then we passed by the Statue of the Red Army Lady and BoAo Aquapolis on the way to our hotel. At first I didn't get the difference between hotel and resort-style hotel when our tour guide Momo explained, until I stepped into our second hotel. -.-" Resort-style hotel --> our equivalent to a chalet room. After putting down our stuff we went to check out the supermarket nearby, heee!

Bought some pearl powder so I can bring it back to SG to make masks!

Later we gathered back at the hotel for an early dinner because we're gonna catch some cultural show. The seatings in the theatre is free-seating, so we needed to be there early to get good seats.

It was damn terrible, I don't mean the show, but the audience! Majority of the people were from Mainland China, they spit whenever they go, even in the theatre! Totally grossed me out!! It was really packed, and everyone was seating shoulder to shoulder. I really shudder to think how we'll all die if a fire breaks out. And as we were there early, we're treated to tour guides taking turns singing karaoke on the stage. *sticks fingers into ears* Well... about the show... the facts about the ... "lady boys" were pretty dubious but let's not go there. There were too many performances by these transsexual people, and it was getting too draggy for our liking. The closing was this couple dancing with silk strips, damn awesome and graceful!

After that, we went back to the hotel located nearby. We went to the supermart to get mineral water because the water from the tap is not safe for consumption. We also bought instant cup/bowl noodles, and Adeline, dad and my aunt came over to join us in our "maggie mee party" in our room. hahaha! My mum was feeling very sick because of the oily Hainanese chicken rice that she ate during lunchtime and she puked twice, so she didn't join us.

After that, everyone left. Kelda and I did eye masks while getting the girls' hair brushed and changed their clothes. =D

Guess who's on the bottle? =D

Nownow, Kate Rose is all changed out of her previous outfit!

Alrighty, that's all for the day! :)
