Eat, Pray, Love

I know I'm a bit slow but I just caught Eat, Pray, Love the movie on Tuesday night. Being a fan of the book and the author Elizabeth Gilbert (you really hafta check out her talk on ted.com!), I just had to watch it even if it's 140 mins long.

So the book/movie is about the author's year-old journey to self-discovery through countries such as Italy, India and Indonesia. I love the cinematography, and it causes bouts of wanderlust coursing through me, making me wanna grab a backpack and go travelling! I love the part whereby the author learnt Italian gestures and it just cracked me up! :) I never thought I would say this but Julia Roberts looks really good for someone in her 40s.

I really like this movie, even though it didn't exactly follow the book to a T but it encapsulates the essence of it and it was truly inspirational. In Italy, the character learns the art of pleasure, and then she learns the art of devotion in India, and in Indonesia she learns to balance the two. Reflecting on my life, I think I haven't really mastered any of those arts. I consistently push myself to the point of burning out, my mind's too flighty and I can't hold a thought for too long most of the time.. If you can control your mind, you can do anything, and that is something that I have to learn in order to lead a well-balanced life.
