Taronga Zoo, Sydney

One of the places of interest we visited in Sydney was Taronga Zoo and boy, I love the fact that it's just a short ferry ride away from the city!

Our ferry tickets. (We got our zoo tickets from this travel agency in Chinatown, and we bought our ferry tickets separately.)

Upon reaching there, we took the Sky Safari up!

After we were armed with maps and knowledge of showtimes, we're off to catch the EnergyAustralia Seal Show! It's kinda cool how each sea lion comes on with their own presenter. :)

Seating in the stands, all ready to see the seals show off their natural abilities and learn more about them!

Presenter with Australia sea lion, I think her name is Lexi.

Explaining why it's not good to litter. I don't have the other picture of Lexi, the sea lion pretending to be dead by suffocation. But still, so cute!

And... I think this is the New Zealand fur seal, if I'm not wrong haha

We had a bit of time to walk around before the bird show...

Sam turning my cardi into some sort of a head scarf

I'm not short, I'm just fun-sized!

Better to hear you with :)

Meerkats, so cute!

Stunning view of the Sydney Harbour as the backdrop for the show.

Snapping silly pictures while waiting for the bird show to begin.

Barn Owl.

Galah

Must take a picture of the beautiful scenery after the show!

Then we continued exploring the place...

Giraffes and the host is giving a presentation. Do you know giraffes have 5 horns on their faces?

Shorter than a baby giraffe.

Because we take silly pictures best....

Do you know koalas sleep for about 20 hours a day?

Tassie devil sunbathing. At first glance I thought it was just some sort of a display of a roadkill. On second look, then I realise that the Tassie devil is breathing! *After coming back from the trip, I met up with a bunch of friends when they began talking about what they would do if they run over an animal on their road trip and I was rather put-off. >.<

Touching a blue tongue lizard. There's a guinea pig for petting as well. The volunteers are really nice and shared some information about the creatures that they were handling.

And then we ended our day in the zoo and headed back for the city, but not before a snapshot outside!

On the ferry back, with the beautiful view of Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge at the back.

Tips:
  • Wear sunscreen! The sun in Australia is really strong, no kidding. I only left my shoulders unprotected for like what, 30 minutes (during the bird show) and I was a little sunburnt. I had my cardi draped over my shoulders after that. You know sun protection is not something to be taken lightly when you see people seated around you reaching into their bags for their sunblock and religiously applying/reapplying it.
  • Remember to charge your camera, or pack along an extra battery cartridge. Sounds pretty duh right? Well, Sam didn't so we relied on mine halfway through the zoo. hahaha!
  • Set aside enough time for the zoo. I don't like to rush, but about 3 to 4 hours at the zoo would be enough time to finish exploring the place. And take the Sky Safari!
