We met at GoMA and then we had a quick tour before heading up to the exhibition. At the risk of sounding like a geek, I love museums. I've never been to GoMA before but now that I've discovered this gem of a place, I think I'll come back here pretty often. =D I never knew we could put our bags in the cloakroom but now I do. Although photography isn't allowed in GoMA, we could take pictures in the exhibition. We weren't allowed to touch the works on display, but the artist had put up a piece of the material used in the construction of the sculptures for visitors to have a feel of it. Now that our itchy fingers have been satisfied hahaha, we began wandering through the hall.
Ron Mueck's an Australian born, London-based artist and most of his sculptures are naked and seem suspended in states of self-consciousness, introspection or deep contemplation. The collection consists of a mixture of small and large-scale pieces.

Dead Dad, one of his most iconic works

See how life-like it is!

This is why I'm vegetarian *shivers runs down my spine*

I'm amazed at how detailed the artist is from the scaling of proportions, to capturing folds of the skin and the protrusion of bones, facial expressions/ features, down to the toenails and so on so forth. Everything is so realistic, I'm almost afraid that they might just come to life hahaha!
While most of the exhibitions at GoMA are free, this one requires you to get a ticket before entering. Concession tickets are at $10, and the exhibition will run till 1 Aug 2010.
