Suck it up, princess.

That's a phrase that my team-mates love to use (regardless of whether you're a guy or girl) and I'm starting to love using it too. Seriously, everytime you think that you're in a terrible place in life, take a look again. Did you wake up this morning alive, with a roof over your head, and hot water come gushing out when you turn on the tap? If yes, you have no idea how much you've taken things for granted. Think of all the homeless people, etc and for the love of God, realise just how lucky you are. So quit whinging about the little, petty things in life already.

If we were all to put down our crosses in a pile in the same room, I bet that we would pick up our own crosses again. Who's to say the other person is leading an easier life than you are? Who's to say that person didn't struggle to get to where they are in life right now?

You may think you're alone in your situation, but if your eyes are wide open you would see that many others are going through the same thing as well. The only difference is that they just suck it up and deal with it. So suck it up, princess.

I wanted to blog about the art of conversation a while back because I felt that being a good conversationalist is a good social skill to pick up and possess. It can turn a mere acquaintance into a friend or even an interviewer into an employer. I've been procrastinating because I've been so busy but I will just share in a concise manner on what being a good conversationalist entails because knowing it will help one become the kind of person people enjoy being around and the kind of person that people want to talk to and see if you're doing it.
  • Be a good listener (always tune in to what’s being said!)
  • Be a keen observer of your surroundings
  • Be updated about what's happening in the news (e.g gossip, industry updates, etc)
  • Read body language of people
  • Contribute to the conversation, but do not monopolise it
  • Understand there's no need to fill up every moment of silence or laugh too hard at every joke.
If you find that the whole world has turned its back on you, maybe... just maybe it's high time to reflect. No one would want to draw close to someone who's not someone they enjoy being around.
