K is for Kelly

Last week, I borrowed Influence by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, along with the other books on fashion illustration.

The book was chock-full of interviews with people who had in some way influenced the Olsen twins, and I can't help but feel inspired as well. These people are vaults of creativity and the pearls of wisdom dispensed really struck a chord with me and it made me think about the way I live my way.

Maybe.. Just maybe, sometimes we keep to ourselves too much, and we really should be engaging with people around us. Host a dinner party with a table of random people could jolly well be the most interesting evening you ever had.

While it's important to know when to take a break, it's also important to work because it keeps you sane. I'm not talking about jobs where you take up to pay bills, but rather work that means something to you and it's something you enjoy. A busy mind is a happy mind, and I never want to do a mind-numbing job ever again.

So many people want to be someone, want to accomplish something in their life, but they are unwilling to put in the work required for it, they just want to sit around and wait for it to fall into their lap. If you want something great to happen, just do it.

I don't want to merely exist, I want to live.
