Ever since I went over to Australia, I can say that my skin has really been affected quite badly. I still have no idea what's wrecking havoc on my skin, because I still suffer from breakouts now that I'm back in Singapore for summer vacation. :(
Sooo, let's see what could possibly have been the triggers:
- Change of climate
- Lack of facial treatments
- Stress
- Frequent late nights
- Usage of drugstore products
I think my skin had been too pampered while I was in Singapore. Monthly facial appointments, 3-4 facial masks done on a weekly basis, skincare routine made up of products from departmental store brands, etc... Now being on a student budget all over again has made me opt for products of a lower price range. Not sure if it's all that makes the difference because some drugstore products are praiseworthy right? Acnes from Mentholatum has really good cleansers and I love it so much that when I went over to Batam recently, I bought like 3-4 cleansers, masks and tubes of treatment gel from the brand to bring back to Brissy. Oh well... Australia carries limited brands in their drugstores, what to do? *shrugs*
Now... I'm thinking that maybe facial oil blotters play a crucial role in this whole breakout affair. Before I left, I was an avid user of oil blotters because the hot and humid weather really gets to me and oil blotters help absorb the excess oils so my skin doesn't feel icky. When I went over, I gradually stopped using it because the climate was cooling and my face didn't feel icky despite the fact that it still got oily. Oh, woes of a girl with combination-oily skin. When I came back, I still didn't use much of it... Hmmm... maybe.
Anyhows, I'm gonna list down the products I'm currently using to see if they help in curbing my acne problem. Gonna switch it up a little from time to time, one item at a time if it doesn't seem to help. Hahaha, feels like a game of Mastermind
Day/ Night:
- Mentholatum Acnes medicated creamy face wash w/ Clarisonic brush
- ACV toner (my sister hates the smell of it, but hey it worked for me previously ok!)
- Iqqu acne serum
- Roc anti-wrinkly eye cream
- Mentholatum Acnes sealing jell [skip if heading out]
- Iqqu advance sunscreen [skip if staying home]
- Mario Badescu special healing powder on spots
Ooh, must share this: Nexcare 3M Acne Patch is a godsend to those who experience painful pimples with a head. I first started using it last year and I swear by this product. I use it at night to suck out the pus and impurities from those irritating pimples and the pimples are visibly flattened by the next day! :) With a 4.5 rating on MUA, I think it really is quite a miracle-worker. Speaking of which, I must stock up several boxes before going back...
In the past when my skin was relatively clear and free from blemishes, I always complained how my complexion wasn't good enough because it wasn't as fair as I wished it would be. Now, I'd give anything to have those days back.
