Hissing of aerosol sprays, seniors wielding make-up brushes over our faces, the running through of routines, chants and cheers, and putting our best smiles forward; Welcome to the world that I was part of, three years back.

Last Sunday, I found myself back at the competition ground (like every year since graduation as a spectator) to witness an event that all cheerleaders had been waiting for, to show everyone what they had been training for in under a couple of minutes. Being at the competition ground strangely feels like coming home because I see familiar faces and some of which I personally know. I was there to show support for my girlfriends and former cheerleading team Magnum Force, and I was waiting to see what teams were going to bring to the competition mats this year.

And I must say, the standards had improved by leaps and bounds. Almost every team attempted to do arabesques, heel stretches, scales and scorpions, and incorporated gymnastics as well unlike previous years where teams placed more focus on pyramids. I get the goosebumps when I see them doing stunts. You know which songs had made impact on us when you hear them in cheer mixes. ;) The competition was stiff, unlike in the past where it was obvious which team would take home the champion trophy. And it was a fashion parade as well, with each team strutting their stuff in their spiffy uniforms.

I'm really proud of my juniors for they had proved themselves worthy and took the champions trophy in the High School category. Their hard work really paid off :) And needless to say, I'm damn proud of my girls as well! They trained hard and came in 1st in the All-girls stunts category and even received the Best Newcomer award in the category :) What else can I say but sweet, sweet victory.

Of course, there's no point holding a competition if there isn't anyone around at the event. I love soaking in the atmosphere, and watching people cheer their hearts out for the cheerleaders :) And I'm amazed that Mr Chia still remembers our names! He really has a good memory... It's heartening to see the school show their unwavering support for the team.

And.. I'm thankful that my favourite person accompanied me down for this event and he had a glimpse of the world I was involved in. Seems like it's a small world... I didn't know we shared a number of mutual friends hehe!

Anyways, lemme end this entry with a picture with the girls: great job done! ;)
