2006 Birthday Celebrations

I wanted to blog about my birthday celebrations, but my computer at home was being a total bitch. It's high time to reformat it.

Anyway, back to the day that should have been declared a public holiday!

25-26th Nov
Beforehand, Bern tried to get my friends to come together for a lunch celebration, but everyone was busy with their own stuff and ain't able to come down. --> This made me feel really sad =( So in the end, it was the 2 of us, celebrating my birthday in advance.

Bern came to pick me up at my place and presented me with a bouquet of roses :) I was taking my own sweet time, having lunch. Knowing that we are the only ones who are going to celebrate my birthday today, when Bern said "We are going to be late for all appointments", it didn't strike anything in me. We went down and cabbed down to Albert Court Hotel, our weekend retreat. :)

Bern booked Albert Court Hotel's courtyard deluxe room. It's really pretty and quaint, located inside this row of shophouses. You can only enter the premises with the access card that the hotel issues out when you check in :)

The sound of trickling water greets us when we entered the exclusive area.

Our room!

This is how it looks on the inside...

The bed looked really tempting...

Let us test out the bed! *plonks*

Can we go now?

After checking in, we walked around... I felt almost like a tourist! The hotel's conveniently located near Sim Lim Square and Bugis... Was busy taking in the sights and all, Bern was leading the way. He brought me in the direction of Bugis Junction and as we walked, he asked:

Bern: Do you know where we are going?
Me: I know I know! We are going to look for the iPod devil skin! (info: we saw this girl having the devil sillicon skin and it was really cute! bern asked her where she got it and she said Bugis Junction. Bern said that we'll go look for it one day)
Bern: Wahh, my baby so smart hor?
Then he led me up a flight of stairs and only then I realised,

My first surprise was the mani-pedi session at Polished Divas! =D

It was kinda private, with all the dim lightings and every lady who was doing their nails there were seated in massage chairs, coupled with a portable DVD player! =D talk about enjoying life man.. hahaha

My own portable DVD player with my choice of movie, with a glass of grape juice behind.

Bern came to pick me up after an hour plus :) and then we to get the iPod devil skin and headed to Night Safari!!

It was drizzling before we got there. But it all went away by the time we arrived. So the night air was really cooling and refreshing. There were many many many tourists around as well. We were at the entrance where we met this family of tourists, this lady tourist was asking her husband to take a picture of her at the entrance of Night Safari. As you know, there are fire torches leading to Night Safari, and she insisted that the picture must include the sign and the two fire torches. It was quite impossible then, because there was a tourist bus blocking it and she was being a real pain in the ass man.

But anyway, back to me!

We had dinner at Bongo Burgers! :)

My BBQ Chicken burger! x) Tasted really good. Bern had his Bongo Burger set x)

*chomp chomp!*

As we were having dinner, there was a performance going on. Fire-eaters, dancers et al. Very interesting x)

The privilege of working in STB; getting complimentary passes to tourist attractions!

A picture of us together

We went to catch the animal show "Creatures of the Night" =) It was really packed to the brim! The show presenter was really good *thumbs up* The show was really interactive and intimate. As flash photography was strictly not allowed, she translated "no flash photography" message to the various different languages for tourists who were present. :) And whenever someone uses flash, she got us to "BOO!" at the person loudly. And boy, we did! x) It was a united effort from the audience. =)

After the show, we took the tram ride to see the various exhibits. Very interesting... But as usual, the tourists were really annoying, they spoke very loudly. I'm sitting in the first row, they are probably sitting in the fourth or fifth row, but I can hear them as if they were sitting right behind me! *rawr*

After the tram ride which took about 45 mins, we went exploring on the walking trails. :) It was fun! We're like explorers in the dark. The more memorable ones were the leopard enclosure and the bats exhibit. The leopard saw us and came right up to the glass panel and start pacing in front of us, back and forth, back and forth. It was really scary, it's a giant cat and if the glass collapse, we are gonna be dinner man. And the bats, they are sooo big! Like rats with wings... hehehe x) It was really an upclose experience.

This was taken on our way out.. Bern always called me the Ulu-ulu tribe leader becauses of the beaded necklace I wore.. haha.. so this is the restaurant my tribesmen opened. =P

After that, we took the bus down to town and we headed to Cathay to catch a midnight show! Something that I've never done usually because I'm present-day Cinderella, I must reach home by 12 midnight. So we caught Happy Feet! It was really cute and funny at the same time :) But the ending was like "Huh??" So yeah... (:

Then it was back to the hotel to cut cake!

Happy birthday to me!

The cake is really sinful... and chocolatey... :D
After that, time to sleeeep

The next morning, after breakfast, we went to soak ourselves in the jacuzzi!

It was co-co-co-cooooldddd....

Lunch with family was up next, as we went back to our room. showered, packed and ready to leave for Jurong Point! As usual, we stuffed ourselves silly over there. :)

27th Nov: Nothing much, went home early after work (7ish - 8ish?) together with Bern. I was feeling upset on the ride home, because it seems like the whole world had forgotten about my birthday and Bern was the only one who remembered. So reached home around 10 plus, showered and was using the computer for a while. As 12 midnight approaches, I started to get SMSes and phonecalls! =D hehehe.. So I wasn't forgotten afterall! x) Bern sang me Happy Birthday over the phone and he was at my doorstep! I thought he went home already, but he actually hung around, just to present me with my birthday present at the stroke of midnight! x) *feeling really loved*

My Tiffany & Co present! - Frank Gehry's fish pendant!!! =D

Nov 28th: Was really happy that I wasn't forgotten, so I went to work, feeling at peace with myself. Ariel was telling me that everyone at our workplace didn't seem to remember that it's my birthday, but I was fine with it :) The day went on, did our usual work, went to fold boxes for packing and back to work. Then Tracy came to me and said that we're going to do labelling and I believed her because she brought her laptop along, and the other time when we were doing the packing, she was working on the laptop. So we walked to the compactus area and I see many heads popping out! :D Surprise surprise! hahahahhaa xD I got Forever21 vouchers... yay!! Thanks alot... really appreciate it :)

Then met Bern for dinner at Sakae Sushi, then went shopping at Esprit for a scarf... then went home. :)

Nov 29th: Met my sister's godma for dinner with the rest of my sisters and my mum. Kelda couldn't make it. She's really sweet to remember my birthday. She makes a point every year to celebrate with me. This year, it's a simple dinner with Aunt Shirley at Fish & Co. Then we talked abit.. and then I brought my sisters home whereas she headed the other direction after we got on the bus. :)

Nov 30th: I thought everything would be over by this day, but I was wrong. When I was collecting tapes (sent from Indonesia) from the library, the librarian passed me a package.

It was a birthday gift (beaded necklace) sent over from Indonesia Traffic team! It also came with a card inside... So touched and very happy! I sent them an email, saying my thanks and appreciation :)

To think I was thinking that it would be a lonely and sad birthday... It's even better than last year's celebrations! =D
