no mad scrambling around the house looking for ingredients to bake a cake to surprise mummy on mother's day, no loud proclamation that we love her. we all woke up late, thinking it's another sunday.
i think my mum thought that we forgot it was mother's day, until the three of us at home (keller's missing in action cuz she's at my uncle's place) put our gifts together and presented it to her. =) hehe, kelda and i got her a handbag while kelila bought her a cup and a handphone accessory to hang on her phone. and boy, im glad that she liked her handbag.. ahaha! no one can find an additional handbag an unnecessary item because it's a female thing to find a handbag to suit every occasion/outfit, just like shoes!
i think it's been ages since she last received flowers cuz my dad's the very ungrateful and unromantic sort. guess she's secretly pleased to receive the bouquet of carnations from bern when he popped by in the evening :)
yesterday was spent with bern at escape. i tell you, "fun people serving fun people" is a mockery of their standard of service there. the staff manning the rides are a bunch of gloomy, rude, sulky workers (and some bordering on the rude side), and they are definitely not a bunch of fun-loving people. i know the rain sure dampened my mood for fun because we only managed to go on 3 rides before it poured heavily, but i think the rain dampened the workers' mood even more.
when it poured:
in the staff's hearts: YAY!! i hope it continue to rain rhinos and dinosaurs until the next shift takes over, so while it rains, lemme just slack and let the money drop into my pocket without me really working.
when it stopped raining:
in the staff's hearts: TMD!! now I have to wipe the seats of the rides dry, check that the road's safe for those idiots who are not turned away by the rain and wants to ride in the go-kart, test out the rides so no more deaths will occur in our small little amusement park. TMD. -inserts big scrowl and a sulk-
like seriously, issit that hard to keep a smile on your face, or at least look positive? and i was at the family rollercoaster ride and i witnessed how rude and sulky this particular staff was, there was this little boy who was wayy below the height limit and he got into the seat of the roller coaster with his brother who was prolly 3-4 years older than him. she dragged him out and took him to the pole where she checked if he measured up to the minimum height limit. and she was balantly rude and she said, "he's not 1.2m, who's the adult with him? you're not an adult. he cannot sit on this ride" to the older brother. and in the end the two of them didn't take the ride. i mean, she could have put it in a nicer way, like "hey, i'm sorry but you can't take the ride alone because you don't meet the height requirements. why not you wait for your older sister(who's in the ride) and you take it with her later on?" and that's not the only rude fella over there, but i think i should stop at one before it becomes hard for me to stop hahaha.
i work as a waitress before, i've served people and i've been served when i eat at restaurants. and i don't find it hard to be nice to people, to add a "please" and a "thank you" cuz i believe being nice to people (especially those who work their butts off to support themselves, etc) can make their day (if they were having a bad day).
and why i'm saying all these is because i've spent almost a whole day there and i realised other than ah bengs and ah lians who smoke their lives away there in between taking the rides at escape, the rest of the people are actually tourists. imagine them going home with a notion that singapore has bad customer service and spreading it to the friends et al. *tsktsk* not very nice eh?
anyway, back on a happier note....
