memory flashback

i was at the beach, having a picnic when i suddenly thought of you. suddenly i was transported back in time, where in my mind's eye,i saw us scouting for a perfect area with shade to place our belongings. i could almost faintly hear music playing on the radio.

i saw shengjin and yiwei dunking me into the salty seas when i merely wanted to play with water at the shore. i saw us playing captain's ball not too far away from our mats and having a great deal of fun. then i distinctly remembered the bruise on my cheek when shengjin's coconut head hit me and how yiwei and velvel tried to soothe the pain by rubbing ice on it.

i recalled that we tucked in to a wonderful spread of food, self-service sandwiches, konnyaku jelly, sushi and alot more.

i saw us doing the dance spontaneously for 'that thing you do' when it was playing.

i saw us laughing, having oodles of fun and joy together, enjoying each other's company.

i saw us running across the shore, wanting to rent aqua-bikes so we could go to the island. we paddled really hard and functioned as water-taxis to transport the rest to the island where we took several pictures together.

i saw jiaying wearing ridhwan's cowboy hat and we posed together for a picture-perfect moment. we sat in the hammock, enjoying the moment, watching people go by.

we played soccer, threw frisbee and caught them and collapsed on the mats and chillaxed to the music playing on the radio.

i saw me, wandering around to offer strangers jelly that we couldn't finish as we had too much to eat.

then suddenly it hit me.

those were the best days of my life.

they were the ones who truly knew me, and liked me for who i am. feisty, hot-tempered and all.

i miss them all and most of all, i miss me. the carefree, child-like me. the me who hasn't been tainted by evil things such as responsibilities, unhappiness, disappointments, heartbreaks, accusations and less-than-encouraging comments.
