Quick update, in point form because I hafta do my readings before I go to bed.

On Friday:
- Went to Dendy Portside to catch Coco Avant Chanel in the afternoon. (Portside Wharf/ Hamilton is such a lovely place)
- Met up with Geoffrey, who brought along his housemate, for some yummy fish & chips at Hawken Drive, followed by awesome desserts at Freestyle @ Fortitude Valley. *So satisfied and bloated after everything!*

On Saturday:
- Supposed to meet Joson and co to go groccery shopping at West End but I couldn't drag myself outta the house.
- Attended the barbie by SSA, and was psycho-ed into going to Harbour Town on Sunday
- Because we couldn't resist the urge of shopping checking out somewhere new (okay it's not that new for me), we went ahead of schedule and did housework on Saturday instead of Sunday.
- Oh, not before we dropped by the city to pick up some skincare/ bodycare products.

On Sunday:
- Dragged ourselves outta bed and headed to Roma St station to meet Jean, before meeting the rest at Southbank station.
- It was a 1 hr train ride and 10 mins bus ride to Harbour Town, and had a quick brunch at the kebab cafe and then the shopaholic in me broke loose!
- Haven't tallied up the damages, but I reckoned it shouldn't be more than 120 dollars?
- Didn't buy too much, just a pair of boots, a pair of flats, some socks, a coin purse ($3 only!!), 1 black bag, 1 tan bag, 1 necklace. Yup that's about all.

Pictures up soon, I'm sucha procrastinator haha

It's only 9:25pm now, but tonight I feel tuckered out. I caught Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with my sis, cousin and cousin's friend earlier on and we had dinner out before making our way back to the apartment.

I'm into my second day at school. Everything's cool, and to a certain extent I enjoy my lectures. But there are tons and tons of readings to be done even though I don't have textbooks. I guess that's the difference between university and poly education. You're to read far and beyond what's required and to think critically. I think I haven't mentioned about my major other than the degree that I'm doing. I've taken the leap of faith and plunged into the deep end of the pool (fashion). I hope this will be a good struggle for me, to learn beyond what I've done previously. :)

Anyways, Geri, Kelda and I cooked dinner together last night. It was fun! Hahaha, lotsa of laughter during the preparation and the actual cooking itself :)

Okay, I'm gonna head for the showers and then come out and get started on my readings.

Backdated entries part 2!

July 7, 2009:
Mummy prepared breakfast and packed lunch for us!

Insectosarus eyeing our sandwiches!

Breakfast: Egg, sausage with toast. The sausage tasted pretty yucky, there's this mutton smell. *wrinkles nose* Speaking of smell, the corridor outside our apartment smells the same way too throughout our stay there! Probably there's a muslim family living on the same level and cooking similar dishes *shrugs*

Hmm, then we went to school to use the internet. HAHA! yeah... those were the painful days. Met Regina and Joson in the library. Actually, I met them at the airport the morning we touched down, but we didn't talk till we gotta get down the bus and Regina took my number when she knew I was studying at QUT too.

Then we hung out, went to the bank with them to set up their accounts. We also bumped into my cousin Jean and her mum at the bank! Then the group just got bigger. We popped by Big W because some were buying electrical heaters. After that we decided to see Joson's place at Kelvin Grove Urban Living and we headed to the bus-stop.

It was quite a wait at the bus-stop for the shuttle service to take us to the Kelvin Grove campus, so I started taking pictures.

This is Regina and Joson :)

Waiting for the bus to come...

Kelvin Grove Campus Living was one of the places that I considered before heading over. Joson brought us in and it's... quite cool. There's a shared common living area with TV, toilet (shared), a small kitchen area for students to prepare their meals, stock their stuff in the fridge and of cuz their own personal bedroom. Joson got his aunt to ship over stuff like his bolster, cans of luncheon meat and other stuff haha!

After that, we walked past the apartmen that we are looking to rent before we had a break at a cafe. Next, we popped by Regina's place at Unilodge located in the city. It's just one or two streets away from the Gardens Point campus. Regina's room seemed to be slightly bigger than Joson's and she has her own bathroom. The shared cooking area is on level 4, and guess what? We bumped into Jeremy and his dad there too! *We met briefly at the IDP pre-departure briefing* What a small, small world :)

It was getting kinda late, so my cousin Jean and her mum came over to Abbey Apartments on Roma Street to take a look and have a chit-chat. :) Then they had to go, and we had a short rest before meeting Tim for dinner.

We talked over dinner at this Korean restaurant on Mary Street. :) The serving was big man! It was from then on, my mum, sis and I decided to share food in order to prevent wastage.

This is the start of my backdated entries.

July 5, 2009:
Bags are packed, and I'm good to go. Met K in the afternoon for lunch, and he passed me this really pretty digital photo frame :) Then went back home, and checked to make sure nothing important had been left out. Come 5ish, Auntie Shirley came to our place. We showered and all, pushed our luggages down and boy, it was raining cats and dogs. The skies were really dark, almost as if Singapore's sad to see us go, hahah!

The journey to the airport took almost twice as long because the visibility was really bad. Anyways, we checked-in our luggages (exceeded by 3 kg!! but the lady at the counter just closed an eye to it haha) and just hung around a little bit before proceeding upstairs to get a quick bite. Mag was the first to arrive!

I ordered mee siam, but I couldn't finish it for some reason. Then Ju Leen, Kenny, Siti arrived! :) After chatting and taking pictures, it was time to make our way to the departure gates.

JL & I. The girl just touched down from her trip with her family peeps. Siti & Mag ♥

K & I

Just before I walked through the gates

Took pictures again, gave everyone a hug and then went in pretty quickly. Bought cigarettes for Zhifeng as requested, and headed for the boarding gate.

The passenger load was 80%, and my mum, Kelda and I were in the same row. I watched some movie that was a recent release, but hella boring and winded up watching Confessions of a Shopaholic in the end. Haha! Anyway, late dinner was served and after dinner, I caught my forty winks.

July 6, 2009:
We reached Brisbane International Airport in the early morning, and it was quite a wait at the customs. It was hard to remove our luggage from the conveyor belt as it was sooo heavy! After that, we went to the arrival hall to look for our person in charge of airport reception. Turned out that we gotta wait for a couple more students before we could head off.

The weather was soooo pleasant when we headed outside to the coach area, I love it! :) Chilly winds, but being in the warm sunlight offsets the cold.

My sister Kelda & my mum :)

Me!

Can the skies get anymore bluer than this?

On our way to the city now!

We were dropped off at Abbey Apartments, and we checked-in at the counter. We could only go into our room at 2pm, so we headed for school to get stuff sorted out. Made our ID card, activated the wireless internet thingy in school on my laptop, bought tickets for the Menopause musical and popped into the bank to deposit money into our accounts. It was almost lunchtime when we were done, so we had Hungry Jack's before heading back to school for the Discover Brisbane talk. What can I say, the food's not making my stomach very happy, I didn't even finish my fries. :(

After the talk, we went back to the apartment to rest because I've made an appointment to view a place in the evening.

This is how the apartment looks like. It's pretty self-sufficient. We've got a living room, a separate bedroom, a dining table, induction stove with all the pots/pans/ utensils/ cutlery provided, washing machine in the bathroom, and a pool outside! It's too cold to go swimming though, haha!

View from the bedroom.

Took a nap with my sister while my mum went out to roam the streets. When my mum came back at around 5ish, 6pm with food, I was so overwhelmed that I actually cried. At this point I thought I was feeling a little homesick. My mum bought fried rice (really greasy rice) and foods like cookies, cheese, bread, sausages, eggs, and most of all Yakult! She made this lil apartment a little more like home.

When it was 6ish, Geri came by with her parents to pick us up to view the place that we might be renting. As we were a little early, we went to check out the nearby facilities. At 7pm, I gave the guy a call, and he let us into his apartment.

What can I say? It was love at first sight. When I saw it, I could see myself living in it (and I AM living in it hahah!). After that, Geri's parents dropped us off and we called it a night.

Internet-less no more!

Okay people, I've internet at home now!

Right now, I'm on the wireless broadband 5GB plan. Therefore I'll be rationing my internet usage for my 1.5 years here... It's kinda hard to adjust, coming from a country where unlimited internet download is the norm. So... friends do me a favour! No music on your blogs, it will consume more bandwidth than the normal text and pictures kinda blog :(

Okay, gotta go now!

jeudi, juillet 09, 2009

Hey peeps, I'm in Brissy now! I'm doing ok (okay, was a little homesick on the first day but I'm cool now) though the food's giving me indigestion for god-knows-what reason. I've bumped into several Singaporean students and we've been hanging out :) And we are headed for Gold Coast tomorrow! *beams*

Alrighty, that's all for now bye!

I'm almost all packed. Just documents to print out and misc items like cameras, bible, Kate Rose and Amelie...

I had a fit earlier this morning, but everything's good now. Whoever said love brings out the worst and best in someone had probably never gone overseas to further their studies. Haha

This whole move has made me somewhat of a worrier, but God has showed me that He will make everything okay for me as long as I have faith in Him. :)

It's You I adore, Jesus my Lord
And all I want, is to sit at Your feet
Nothing more

Your perfect love, hung on a cross
You've paid the price, for my life
I long to know, Jesus my Saviour

I adore You, I adore You
I adore You, Jesus my Lord
